Our Story
Emma was born from late-night conversations in the coffee shops of San Francisco's Mission District. We're a passionate team of language learners, AI researchers, and product builders who believe that everyone deserves access to high-quality language education.
Our journey started when our founder, struggling to learn Spanish for a trip to Mexico, realized that traditional language learning apps felt robotic and disconnected from real conversations. We asked ourselves: "What if we could create an AI that feels like talking to a real person?"
That's when Emma was born. Named after a brilliant linguist friend who could make anyone feel comfortable speaking a new language, Emma represents our commitment to creating technology that feels human, warm, and genuinely helpful.
